In photo one, taken from the rear of the tripod head, you'll see my gray quick release lever pointing to the right. PHOTO ONE - OPERATING THE GRAY QUICK RELEASE LEVER NOTE: You'll see both pads on mine, in photo #2 below. It is much smaller, and on the left side of your picture. You still have the second mounting pad on your tripod.

You are only missing the "rubber" mounting pad on the top of the head that was once held on by that glue, plus a quick release part (pictured below). I've been a happy U-212dlx owner since 1986 and still use it regularly. I registered here to answer your question. Can someone with this tripod point me to the right key-word/part I need to buy? Unfortunately, available quick release posts on *bay don't look like the right fit. The missing piece should contain the screw (to thread into a camera). I purchased a Slik u212 deluxe tripod that's missing a mount-piece figuring that I would just buy it separately. The local Goodwill had a tripod like this - with the same piece missing!

I am just wondering whether the missing rubber/plastic pad will result in the camera perching solely on the screw (i.e. The site you linked does have the "6121 Quick release post" for this tripod. My guess would be that the glue was there to hold a rubber pad in place, but I could be wrong. Sigma DP1, Nikon D40 ( hers ), Polaroid x530, Pentax P30t, Pentax P50, (P30t/P50 K-A to Nikon F body mount conversion) For shooting vertically with telephoto or zoom lenses, a camera locking brace provides a tight camera-to-tripod mount which prevents camera slipping.Scheimpflug wrote: My guess would be that the glue was there to hold a rubber pad in place, but I could be wrong.ĭoes this site have your quick-release part? I've never used them, they just came up in a Google search: A special threaded panhead mounting post on one leg is ideal for low-angle photography. The geared center column tension control gives just the right support for varying camera weights, and a bubble level establishes accurate vertical positioning. Each leg angle can be individually adjusted to compensate for unusual surfaces and ground level shots. Features include rectangular legs that maintain torsional strength & retractable spikes for all terrain use. The U212 Deluxe is an all-purpose tripod. I purchased this from B&H photo last March (still has more than 2 years' warranty remaining) and here is the info from their web site: $80 and I will include an extra quick release post and pay for shipping. This tripod supports 5 1/2 lb (2.5 kg) and I've used it with a TV-76 for terrestrial and Moon photography. I have an almost new (used less than 6 times) Slik U212 Deluxe Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head and Quick Release.
